Research into font

For my masthead i understand that this needs to stand out and the way that i have thought of doing this is to  use created fonts on the website www.dafont.com . i immediately looked through a range of fonts that would be a good idea and this was done before i knew the style of my masthead. I had an idea of the font style in my head that i wanted to use and this was that i wanted it to look funky and to make it look like it had cracks in it and the reason for doing this was to make the magazine title to stand out from designs that were already out there. A reason that i thought about designing a font was because i wanted my magazine to be distinctive from the start and this would be starting off with the masthead, so i looked at using a normal font such as 'Ariel' and the reason for looking at this was because it was simple and noticeable as people would recognise it. Dafont.com offered me a variety of fonts that i could use and the ones i looked at were zombified, insomnia and amped for evil. The design that i went for in the end was very similar to amped for evil and is called : promises broken dream by Gersan Borge A and the reason that i went for this font was that it looks funky and is definitely different from any thing that is in the industry already, i then typed in the name of my magazine to try out the font and this is what it looks like http://www.dafont.com/promises-broken-dream.font?text=surround
